The Little Nuggets Go To The Dentist!

David and Esther had a dental appointment today for some routine cleanings….and I’ve got to say it’s a great place and the kids love going there! First of all they have a large play area in the lobby, a big fish tank, lots of really nice hygenists, a very nice dentist, and cool tokens when they’re finished that they can redeem for the toy of their choice from a vending machine. What more could a kid want? Oh, and they don’t ever give shots…instead they have something called “sleepy juice” that they spray on the gums! It’s a pediatric clinic and they’re very good at what they do; however, I think they’ve raised their prices, because I was kinda’ blown away when they told me it would be $170/kid for a routine cleaning! Is that a bit outrageous for a 20 minute visit, or am I just being cheap? I think I’m going to call some clinics up in Canada tomorrow and get some quotes. I’ve heard good things about dentistry prices up there. :) I’d be willing to forego a bit of the fluff and pay a few hundred less every 6 months! Shhhh….just don’t tell the kids, yet!

Esther’s turn…it took her a bit to warm up, but then she enjoyed herself.

I’m just throwing this in because it’s such a funny little profile shot. :)

We charge $65 for a child cleaning – with exam and x-rays it’s around $120. You could try Dr. Brooks, they have a really fun office and it’s right in White Rock!! :)

  • Well “the grass is always greener on the other side” as they say! There are Canadians at the border a lot coming down here to the US to get dental work. If I were you, I would call around to a few different places and get quotes. I would also not be embarrassed to ask the receptionist if the dentist is a Christian. It doesn’t promise anything, but might help in the area of crookedness (high prices, the amount of cavities “found” etc.). I don’t suggest the place in your town in the log building. Not sure if you have ever been there, but we’ve had an experience where they found “cavities” in perfect teeth.

Why were the kids sedated? Do kids that young really get cavities?

  • Aunt JR says:

Yep, Unce S, kids to get cavities, even on the baby teeth. We brush, but Ethan has one cavity on a molar. More genetics than anything else.

Anyhow, sounds like a great place Tracy! Kayleen’s first dental appointmetn was at a pediatric dentist. It was wonderful…until I had a co-pay…even on Microsoft insurance..yowza!!! That was her first and only appt. with a “fun” peds dentist. LOL We go to a cute little place here in town and they are very nice to the kids and do a great job. We found them by word of mouth. You should ask some of your neighbors or people you know in town who they go to.
