Tracy says this blog is not about cooking, but she is doing something interesting outside right now for the bike ride this weekend, and I am hoping this post will help increase turnout and attendance to this event.

She has this sauce she calls a “mop” that is made with cider vinegar, sugar, hot pepper flakes, and salt, and she is cooking 3 rather large pork roasts over indirect heat using the charcoal BBQ. Tracy suggested I start another blog for cooking at ourlittlenuggets.net/cooking.
I have tons of blog posts to catch up on, but I think this is cuter for now…why does “Lord of the Flies” come to mind? Come to think of it…that’s been happening a lot lately as I watch our boys playing outside with all their dirt and sticks.

(Sorry….still having issues-centering and captions are a bit
messed up, but hopefully all the content at least shows up)
4th of July was a lot of fun this year! Josiah really got into the fireworks with Daddy, and spent every available minute shooting them off. We went to nearby Lummi Island in the morning and got some fireworks at the Indian Reservation on the way. What better way to pass the time while we wait for the ferry?

Josiah lighting off a bottle rocket.

Darius watching from the safety of Daddy’s arms.

Lighting a “bee”…probably the kids’ favorite one because it
wasn’t noisy and flew with bright colors.

The ferry ride over to Lummi Island.
We had to meet up with one of Daddy’s patients and a semi-retired vet on the island for a follow-up visit, then we grabbed lunch at the “market” and of course some ice cream bars for dessert.

Chloe enjoying hers.

Aha! A real smile!…as compared to the cheesy, canned one he usually offers the camera. :)

This little man wasn’t about to stop eating just for a picture.

Look, Mommy! No seatbelts!

That evening Dave and Heather and family came over for snacks, a reading, and fireworks. We went to see the display over Bellingham Bay for the first time and I was quite impressed. It was a nice show.

Proud to be [pretending to be] an American.

Here’s the best picture we got. The most spectacular ones were HUGE and directly overhead so it seemed like debris would be raining down on you, but thankfully it never did.
