Breakfast Boy
This morning David got to be my breakfast (er, brunch…ahem) helper. He chose to make pancakes. This is the first time I’ve tried to just cook with one, and it was much better than the general mayhem that results when all 3 are in the kitchen trying to stir and measure. It was a lot of fun and Esther spent the whole time on the fringes watching enviously and talking about when it would be her turn. 
The recipe came from here, and is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST basic pancake recipe I’ve ever found. At some point I’m going to try subbing in some whole wheat flour and bran or something and see what happens, but for now, they’re great the way they are, and hey….probably a whole lot healthier than Bisquick. Suffice it to say that I am not a pancake fan, but I can’t resist these ones. They don’t even need butter on them. Anyways…..

I left for a minute to change Luke’s diaper and David had a burnt thumb and turned pancakes when I got back.
Cleanup is fun…..

Today(Thursday) I got inspired by a “Plum Dimple Coffee Cake” I saw a recipe for and I happened to have a whole bunch of plums from Costco, so we did some baking.
Here, David is tasting the flour, which Esther thought was hilarious and “gross”.
Working hard to mix…the recipe required about 10 minutes total of mixing time, and the end result was very unspectacular. I much prefer my sour cream coffee cake recipe given to me by Heather E years ago.
The finished product after we were finished with it for bedtime snack.
Uncle Andrew has been staying with us for most of the week. Here he is playing “And Is It So” (Eventide) for us on the piano. Not bad!
