We’ve been enjoying the slow pace of Winter Break around here; breakfasting at scandalous hours, and having quiet days at home. Here’s a few pictures from the last week.

Josiah built this himself. What fun it was to have loads of packing snow!

Darius enjoying chocolate cake. He ate the icing off the top and then played with the rest like a dirt pile. Boys will be boys and sometimes Mommies just let them.

A poor quality picture of Josiah making snowflakes.

Josiah takes his job of big brother seriously. He’s the only kid in the family allowed to pick Shiloh up and carry him around, and so he often will rescue him when he’s crying or fussing in his seat. He has such a tender heart!

Shiloh’s new favorite spot to be…hanging out with me while I’m cooking. He’s not quite strong enough for this seat yet, but seems to enjoy it anyways. The only disturbing thing is that he’s always slouched to the same side. Hmmmm….maybe we should visit the chiropractor.

Here he is about one minute before he fell asleep.
If you catch Shiloh at the right time, he’ll smile for you, especially if your name’s Grandpa C!

The kids have been really enjoying the snow, especially since school was canceled for Josiah on Thursday and Friday!

Chloe, all bundled up.

Josiah, digging like a dog, which they both find quite hilarious!

Darius enjoyed the “bundling up” process, but didn’t quite understand what was so great about the white stuff that was SOOO cold. :) Mostly, he took advantage of the fact that he had the lego men(!!!) all to himself, and played quietly indoors.
Friday evening we headed to Auburn to spend the weekend. Daddy has started doing a shift at an emergency clinic every Saturday night there, so we tagged along this time. We planned to spend the night at Grandma Sester’s old house. The only problem was this:

If you look closely, you can see the current temp is below 50 degrees inside. This was what it was when we arrived, and an hour later, until we clued into the fact that the furnace was broken.

My genius and quite efficient method of heating the place up.

Peter building a fire.(He’s throwing a paper ball in the pic) I’m not sure why this didn’t keep us toasty warm…maybe because the fire burned hot and fast and we couldn’t find a vent to close to slow it down…so we were constantly putting more wood in thoughout the night to keep it around 60 degrees, which was a bit more bearable.

Shiloh keeping warm.
Thankfully we were able to get the furnace repaired the next day, so Saturday evening was blissfully cozy.
On Saturday we headed to cousin Violet’s first birthday party. Aunt Robyn made a yummy turkey dinner and cupcakes for dessert.

Violet seemed to enjoy the whole process. What a cutie!

Here she is playing with one of her birthday presents.
And that wraps it up!
It’s good to be home again! More beautiful snow is falling outside right now and since we don’t have to travel anywhere too far in the next few days, I say “let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!”
