Today(Thursday) I got inspired by a “Plum Dimple Coffee Cake” I saw a recipe for and I happened to have a whole bunch of plums from Costco, so we did some baking.
Here, Josiah is tasting the flour, which Chloe thought was hilarious and “gross”.
Working hard to mix…the recipe required about 10 minutes total of mixing time, and the end result was very unspectacular. I much prefer my sour cream coffee cake recipe given to me by Heather E years ago.
The finished product after we were finished with it for bedtime snack.
Uncle Andrew has been staying with us for most of the week. Here he is playing “And Is It So” (Eventide) for us on the piano. Not bad!
The kids finished off the day today(07/15/08) on a good note, with a rousing waterfight. I found out that the teams were Uncle A. and Chloe against Darius and Josiah…..this didn’t seem too fair to me, but it worked out amazingly well. Chloe was much bolder with Andrew backing her up, and Josiah seemed to enjoy the challenge. Darius mostly kept his distance and found a very big stick with which to defend himself.
These are from a few weeks ago…on the Sunday that we missed Sunday School and were late to almost all the other meetings! It was a day when one thing after another went wrong. This is how it started: We were just pulling up to the border when it became obvious that we had a serious problem with one of our tires….Peter stuck his head out the window to check and sure enough…one tire was suddenly, completely flat. We spent the next little while sitting in the border crossing parking lot changing the tire.
